Three people have been confirmed dead in a plane crash near Lanseria airport in northern Johannesburg. The plane is reported to have crashed while attempting to land in bad weather. Paramedics are reported to be on the scene. The Lanseria accident comes on the back of reports that Eastern Cape law enforcement officials are investigating the cause of a plane crash near the Addo Elephant Park last week. The wreckage of the place was found late on Sunday with the pilot's body still inside. The plane was one of three light aircraft flying from Port Alfred to Port Elizabeth. Meanwhile, civil Aviation officials and the South African Police Services' investigation experts are investigating the cause of the Addo National Elephant Park crash. Police believe that the pilot of the single-seater aircraft, 50-year-old Clifford Pike of Benoni died on impact after his plane disappeared near Alexandria in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday. A full-scale search by the K9 unit and police helicopters ended on Sunday afternoon when the wreckage was found. The wreckage of the plane was sighted by a Defence Force Chopper. The plane disappeared while flying in a formation with two other aircrafts from Port Alfred to Mossel Bay. The pilots reportedly encountered heavy fog and diverted to Port Elizabeth. The other two planes landed safely.
